My annual statement has not arrived — what do I do?
Your supplier must send an annual statement within 6 weeks of contract end or meter reading. Not received? We give the 3-step plan + letter.
The Energy Act 2024 requires your supplier to send an annual statement within 6 weeks of meter reading (or contract end). Not received? Step 1: check spam + supplier portal. Step 2: send a written reminder with 14-day deadline. Step 3: on non-response, formal notice + announce a GCE complaint. No reply within 8 weeks of complaint? Escalate to ACM. Important: while no statement is issued, the supplier may not adjust your advance — keep paying the old amount.
Step-by-step
- Check portal + spam — Log into your supplier portal and check the "Invoices" or "My statements" page. Also check spam — statements often get filtered.
- Send written reminder — Request the annual statement in writing (email or letter), with a reasonable 14-day deadline. Keep the confirmation.
- Formal notice of default — On non-response: send a formal notice of default under BW 6:81 jo. Energy Act, announcing a complaint to the Geschillencommissie Energie.
- File at Geschillencommissie — No reply within 8 weeks of complaint? Officially file via degeschillencommissie.nl. Costs €52.50 (consumer).
