Where can I complain about my energy supplier?
4 routes, in this order: supplier itself → Geschillencommissie Energie → ACM → civil court. We explain which route, when and at what cost.
For complaints about your energy supplier the route is: (1) Supplier itself — written complaint, reasonable deadline (max 6 weeks for substantive reply); (2) Geschillencommissie Energie (degeschillencommissie.nl) — only after 6 weeks no reply or unsatisfactory answer, costs €52.50, binding ruling; (3) ACM (acm.nl/loket) — for structural Energy Act/Netcode breaches, not for individual damages; (4) Civil court — for claims > €25,000 or when other routes fail. For grid operator issues (connection, outage damages) GCE is also competent. For privacy/GDPR complaints on smart meters: Dutch DPA.
