A door-to-door energy seller knocked — is this a safe offer?
Often not. Door-to-door energy sales is a red flag. You always have 14 days to back out — we explain rights and the cooling-off process.
Door-to-door energy sales is more strictly regulated since 2024 after repeated deception ("we're checking your meter", "we're here for the grid operator"). Red flags: (a) seller asks for your contract or EAN code; (b) says "your old supplier sent us"; (c) wants you to sign or install an app on the spot; (d) impersonates government or grid operator. Your rights ALWAYS: 14-day cooling-off on off-premises sales (BW art. 6:230o); right to written confirmation; cancel via simple email or web form. Already signed? Send a written revocation within 14 days ("I rescind the contract"). No reason required — just proof of sending.
