🚨 What now? privacy problems

Someone added me to a WhatsApp group without consent — what now?

Leave immediately + address admin on data sharing. On commercial/structural use: AP complaint (GDPR breach). On sensitive content: stalking route.

Adding your phone number to a WhatsApp group without consent = sharing personal data with strangers without basis (GDPR Art. 6). Three contexts: (1) Personal (friend group, family): annoying but rarely serious. Leaving + addressing admin suffices. (2) Commercial (group for "customers" without consent): structural GDPR breach. AP complaint — business must have demonstrable consent. (3) Stalking context (ex-partner adds you to a group with his friends, doxing context, humiliation): GDPR + criminal (Sr 285b stalking, 285d doxing). Routes: (1) Leave group (icon → "Leave group"). (2) Address admin in writing: "Did you ask my consent to add my phone number to this group?" No consent = GDPR breach. (3) On refusal to remove: report to WhatsApp + AP complaint. (4) On sensitive messages + impact: police report. (5) Privacy tip: WhatsApp settings → Privacy → Groups → "Nobody" or "My Contacts Except..." → prevents recurrence. Phone number as personal data: GDPR = personal data, NOT "public". Sharer owes you GDPR rights.

Step by step

  1. Leave group + check WhatsApp settings

Settings → Privacy → Groups → "Nobody" or "My Contacts".

  2. Address admin in writing

GDPR-basis question. Evidence if no consent.

  3. AP complaint on commercial context

generator — business must have demonstrable consent.
