BSN errors arise more often than people realise — wrong BSN linked at municipality moving, old BSN still active, double BSN on identity confusion, wrong birth-date + BSN linkage. Two correction routes depending on source: (1) BRP (Personal Records Database — municipality): BRP Act Art. 2.58 — right to correction. Request at own municipality. Template: your identification + passport copy (KopieID app) + error description + correct data + evidence (birth certificate, passport). Response time 4 weeks (extendable 8). (2) UWV/SVB: GDPR Art. 16 + Dutch Social Security Act. Request via Mijn UWV. Often occurs at benefits or employer admin. Collect evidence: ID + evidence of incorrect registration (letter, screenshot, email notification). Save per organisation. On refusal: AWB objection within 6 weeks + National Ombudsman + AP complaint. Childcare-benefits scandal precedent: BSN linkage errors + fraud markers are AP priority. Damages claim Art. 82 GDPR: on demonstrable harm (missed benefit, wrong tax assessment) €1,000-€10,000 possible.
