Kifid — Financial Services Complaints Institute
Independent complaints institute for banks, insurers, investment advisors. Also privacy complaints with financial aspect.
Kifid (Financial Services Complaints Institute) is the independent ombuds- and disputes-resolution body for the Dutch financial sector. When here? For conflicts with a bank, insurer, mortgage advisor, investment advisor, or pension provider — including privacy aspects such as: wrongful negative BKR registration, data use beyond contract, refusal of access in fraud claims, bank data breach without adequate compensation. How it works: (1) First complaint to financial institution (required first step). (2) No resolution within 6 weeks? File complaint with Kifid (within 1 year of institution's response). (3) Mediation by Ombudsman. (4) Disputes Committee gives binding decision if mediation fails. (5) Appeal at Appeals Committee for cases over €100,000. Costs: €50 registration fee (refunded if you win), proceedings otherwise free. Combination with AP: on privacy aspect, parallel AP complaint — Kifid for damages/financial, AP for enforcement + fines.
