Contact: Het Juridisch Loket — free first-line legal advice
Juridisch Loket gives free 30-minute legal advice on privacy law and all other areas. Good first step for "is this a court case or not?"
For whom: citizens with low-to-middle income (no income test for the first advice, only on referral to subsidised lawyer). Not for businesses — they need commercial counsel. What you get: 30 minutes first-line legal advice via phone, online chat or physical counter. For privacy cases: they explain if you have a strong GDPR claim, logical next steps, whether AP is worth the time, and on significant damages — whether to go to court via a subsidised lawyer. How to reach them: (1) Phone 0900-8020 — peak wait times Monday mornings and Friday afternoons. Best times: Tue-Thu morning. (2) Online chat via juridischloket.nl. (3) Physical counters in 30 larger Dutch cities — book via website. What they do NOT do: they don't draft letters (that's what our generators do), don't accompany you to court, and don't give second opinions on ongoing cases. For those: referral to a lawyer. For privacy specifically: typically they advise on: whether a removal request is valid, AP vs court, whether you have a reasonable damages claim, whether the counterparty falls under GDPR, and what deadlines apply. Subsidised legal aid: on referral to a lawyer with low income: low own contribution (€136-€891 in 2025), rest paid by government via Raad voor Rechtsbijstand.
