Education Inspectorate — schools oversight + child data
Schools oversight. Complaints about child data, photo misuse, or class tracking often run parallel to AP.
The Dutch Education Inspectorate oversees the quality of schools in the Netherlands (primary, secondary, vocational, college, university). Privacy overlap: child-data misuse (school photos online without consent, profiling minors by learning-analytics platforms like Magister, Snappet, or Google Classroom), structural GDPR violations, class-tracking software exceeding what's permitted. What does the inspectorate do? (1) Risk-based investigations. (2) Thematic studies (e.g. digital learning resources 2023). (3) Oversight reports. (4) Referral to AP for serious data violations. Combination with AP: AP for GDPR/UAVG (UAVG Art. 5: under 16 = parental consent). Education Inspectorate for quality + education system. First step: complaint to school itself (mandatory). No action? Board. Then Inspectorate (only for structural issues). How? Online via onderwijsinspectie.nl. Phone 0800-8051 (free).
