Book a pickup on Amsterdam.nl →Here is how
- 1Book onlineGo to amsterdam.nl and request a pickup date. You will receive an email confirmation with a label.
- 2Print or copy the labelStick the label visibly on the mattress, or write the pickup number clearly on it.
- 3Put out 2 hours before pickupNo earlier — a "stray" mattress will cost you €100+ in fines for illegal dumping.
Do / Do not
- Keep the confirmation label — enforcement officers check this
- Moving out? Ask your landlord about including it in furniture removal
- Still clean and sound? Call a thrift shop for free pickup
- Do not place the mattress next to a container — counts as illegal dumping
- Do not fold or cut it to stuff it into a regular bin
- Do not arrange pickup without confirmation — risk of a fine
Or do something better
Most bulk waste still has life. Give or sell before throwing.

Frequently asked questions
What does mattress disposal cost in Amsterdam?
Free for residents. Maximum 5 items per pickup appointment. Beyond that limit: €40 for extra pickup, or self-delivery to the Recycling Point (free with ID).
Can a mattress go in the regular bin?
No. A mattress is bulk waste — must go through an appointment or to a Recycling Point. Folding it does not fit and counts as incorrect waste presentation.
How far in advance should I book the pickup?
Usually 1-3 working days. Busy periods (Aug-Sep moving season, year-end) can stretch to a week. Plan generously.
Can my mattress be picked up on Saturday?
Not by default. Standard pickups are on weekdays. For weekend pickup choose the "express pickup" paid tier (€60-80).
