DIRECT ANSWER

A heat pump shifts gas consumption to electricity — sometimes 3-5× higher annual use. Tariff, capacity, possible upgrade: explained.

What changes:

  1. your electricity consumption rises sharply (full heat pump typically adds 3,000-7,000 kWh/year)
  2. you may need a heavier connection (3×35A instead of 3×25A)upgrade costs €350-€1,500 + monthly higher grid charges
  3. a dynamic tariff can pay off if your heat pump runs via energy management outside peak hours
  4. gas use dropsbut you still pay gas fixed fees unless you actually disconnect (separate request).

Tip: get an installation quote with Total Cost of Ownership including upgrade + tariff change, not just the unit price.
